original soundtrack to Regalia: Of Men and Monarchs

The original soundtrack to Regalia: Of Men and Monarchs, composed by H-Pi, will be released on May 18, 2017, the game release date.

Regalia: Of Men and Monarchs is a JRPG developed by Pixelated Milk, a studio located in the heart of Europe (Poland) which obtained funding from Kickstarter in 2015. The campaign was a runaway success, because the studio actually collected over $90,000, which far exceeded their original target of $40,000.

Regalia is set in a fantasy universe packed with humor. Although it is described as an affectionate tribute to classic JRPGs, the game tries to avoid the genre clichés such as:

“Do you like epic stories about saving the world? Stopping destructive meteors heading for the planet? Fighting against madmen, clowns and madmen clowns? Travelling back through time? Obviously evil party members who turn on you as the plot comes to a bombastic conclusion? Amnesiac, grumpy protagonists winning against impossible odds?

Do you? Well, that’s a shame. Because you will find none of these in Regalia.”

This is the story of young prince Kay of House Loren, who suddenly finds himself ruling a kingdom. But little does he know that the kingdom of Ascalia is crippled by debt, so he must use his reign to try and restore the former prestige of the realm.

The Japanese influence is clear in Regalia: Persona for the social connections, Suikoden for the expedition part and management of the kingdom or Final Fantasy Tactics, but Regalia has a feel and charm all of its own, where the beautiful 2D graphics and the sumptuous orchestral music composed by H-Pi are right at home.
