Pégases Ceremony 2020

Discover our impressions of the first edition of the Pégases ceremony!

On March 9, 2020, the very first Pégases ceremony, took place at the Théâtre de la Madeleine in Paris. Of the 18 categories presented, two games whose soundtracks we distributed were nominated in no less than 4 categories. Here is our report of the event!

In recent years, we had the pleasure to work with Accidental Queens and Alt Shift to distribute the soundtracks of Alt-Frequencies (as well as A Normal Lost Phone and Another Lost Phone) and Crying Suns.

As the festivities were just beginning, Alt-Frequencies was awarded the “Prix Spécial de l’Académie : Au-Delà du Jeu Vidéo“ (“Special Academy Award: Beyond Video Games”), while also being nominated in the “Meilleur Game Design” (“Best Game Design”) and “Meilleur Univers Sonore” (“Best Sound Universe”) categories. Through its varied titles, ranging from EDM to rock or acousticpop, this narrative investigation game put us in the hands of a radio while being trapped into a time loop.

Although it did not receive an award, Crying Suns was nominated in the “Meilleur Jeu Vidéo Indépendant” (“Best Independent Video Game”) and “Meilleur Game Design” (“Best Game Design”) categories. In this tactical rogue-lite with a strong visual identity, the darkness of the scenery blends with Aymeric Schwartz’s ample and saturated electronic sounds.

We would also like to salute our friends from Angoulême Kalank for their nomination in the “Meilleur Jeu Mobile” (“Best Mobile Game”) section for TokoToko. In this augmented reality adventure game, the player brings the scenery to life himself, with his drawing skills!

Let’s not leave our seats too soon! Indeed, how can we ignore the success of the two studios from Bordeaux, Motion Twin and Asobo Studio. Out of 18 awards, A Plague Tale: Innocenceby Asobo took a third of the prizes. This flood of prizes places the adventures of Amicia and Hugo among the French blockbusters.

For its part (and not far from Asobo’s studios!), Motion Twin won the “Meilleur Jeu Vidéo Mobile” (“Best Mobile Video Game”) and “Meilleur Service d’Exploitation” (“Best Exploitation Service”) awards for Dead Cells. To find the full selection of nominated games, visit the Pégases website.
